Turtle spotted in Couples Sans Souci by UK guests One very lucky Couples Sans Souci guest spotted a turtle after taking Couples Resorts up on one of our inclusive scuba diving sessions! The guest travelled over from Scotland to holiday at Couples Sans Souci and managed to capture this fantastic video after going for a dive with one of our PADI-Certified scuba diving instructors. The preservation of local sea life became of significant importance to the staff at Couples Sans Souci all the way back in 1951 – the year that Jamaica was hit by Hurricane Charlie and washed up an injured green sea turtle.

At all the hotels at Couples Resorts we’re used to seeing our fair share of turtles, such as the new hatchlings at our Barbados resort last week, but there’s one turtle that will always remain in our hearts – Charlie, the resident sea turtle at Couples Sans Souci. If you’ve visited the Sans Souci resort you may have been puzzled over the name for the spa, Charlie. The spa took its name from the Charlie, a friendly resident sea turtle who lived beyond the age of 100 years old.

Spa Away in Couples Sans Souci Couples Sans Souci is set in the heart of Ocho Rios, for centuries the mineral waters of Sans Souci have been honoured for their renewing and healing elements, in fact this part of the island became popular for its natural waters in the 1700’s where people from surrounding villages would congregate and queue up to bathe on Sundays. Named after a resident turtle in the mineral cavern over 100 years ago, Charlie Spa at Couples Sans Souci is one of the Caribbean’s most acclaimed spas today, with numerous publications by critics and travel guides our customer’s seem to agree too.
